CA-STATUS tells several programs within the cALMER Utilities what is
extremely important information to them. The status is set via
the cALMER installation program (cALMER.EXE). Run calmer from the
hard disk and select 'Default setup of cALMER Utilities' from the
picklist.
NOHARD Tells NBY that you do not have any hard disks in case your
computer does not report the correct information.
SILENCE:23:00-07:30-02 Is used by NBY to automatically process key-
strokes normally expected off you. You can define a period
in any given day where NBY will determine the best action
after a virus was found. The format must be exactly as
shown above, i.e. colons and hyphens are needed, no spaces.
The values are start time, finishing time and delay before
processing in seconds. The above example would tell NBY
that between 11:00pm and 7:30am, if after two seconds you
have not pressed a key, to go on regardless. NBY will NOT
remove any viruses in this instance and will NOT report
to you in any other form, other than generating the DEL_VIRUS
batch file. This feature is only active in registered versions
and is primarily intended for SYSOPs who have automatic processing
of files scheduled over-night. (I had to get up a few times at
night when NBY found a virus, the feature is in there really
for my benefit.....)
NOROM Tells the utilities to suppress ROM identification. Use this
if SIPLUS crashes your computer.
NOCPU Tells the utilities to suppress CPU identification. Use this
if SIPLUS crashes your computer.
In other words, if your computer crashes when you run SIPLUS,
proceed as follows:
Reboot your computer. (the crash is a total systems crash
due to the fact the the CPU has lost track completely.
Run Calmer.exe and set bot NOCPU and NOROM, test both,
then remove one or the other to detemine which test causes
the crash.
NONBYROM Suppress NBY's ROM locking. Use this if NBY reports a ROM
mismatch error.
NORESCUE Suppress NBY's generation of a rescue disk.
FORCEAT Tells the utilities that they are running on an AT
type computer, even if your computer does not provide
the information to that effect.
ALLOWCT Tells NBY that it is ok for programs to change the file
creation date of command.com
